Entry/Exit

Entry is with two keys – one for the outside door and the other for the front door. The apartment is up the first flight of steps, the first door on the right. The address is ‘Entresuelo 2A’ which translates to ‘mezzanine 2A’.

Once the front door is opened the alarm system will start beeping, so be prepared with the key fob. It may help to withdraw the key before opening the door.

Immediately inside on the wall to your left is the alarm panel (below).

Hold the key fob against the alarm panel to disable – the beeping will stop once that has happened.

The button below the deadbolt releases it: simply press it and the bolt is free to slide home.

When leaving, unlock the door and press the symbol on the top left of the alarm control panel – it has the symbol of a house with a person outside, and is a soft-touch key. When the alarm system starts beeping open the door and depart, closing it firmly behind you (you will need to use the key to re-lock the door). The alarm system beeps a few times more once the door has been closed, but should shut down at that stage.

Water

Water is supplied via a tank on the rooftop. The main water tap into the apartment is located above the toilet, shown here in the ‘on’ position.

Be aware that there is a limit to how much water it can supply over a 24-hour period. If it slows to a trickle, that’s the sign you’ve used too much! Fortunately that’s not highly likely unless you take very long showers, or use the washing machine on its intense settings. There shouldn’t be a problem using the ‘Rapid’ setting on a daily basis should you need it (below).

Hot Water

There’s an electric hot water heater above the washing machine. We leave it unplugged. It shouldn’t take more the 30 minutes to heat up enough for a decent shower.

Drinking Water

The town water should be safe to drink, but given the amount of deposit it leaves inside the kettle, we buy water for that, and for drinking, from the friendly guys in the shop opposite. It’s all of €1 for an 8-litre bottle.

Fridge

As with the hot water, we leave the fridge off. There’s a push button to switch it on at the leading edge behind the fridge door.

Other Appliances

Instruction manuals for the appliances are located in the cupboard under the breakfast  bench.

Internet

The router is by the window at the end of the sofa. Connection details (SSID and password) are indicated on the underside of the box.
